Little Kids Rock Benefit

The Little Kids Rock Benefit event took place the other night at The Hammerstein Ballroom. It was to raise money for children to continue their education in music in schools.

The kids got to perform with Steve Miller, Graham Nash, Darlene Love and Paul Shaffer. The music director was Will Lee. Hosted by Maureen Van Zandt. I was invited by my friend, Gary Lippman and his wife Vera. At our table were my friends Willie Nile and Simon Kirke (Bad Company, Free). There were lots of other friendly faces in the room too, like my friends Billy Amendola (Associate Editor of Modern Drummer ) and Jules Danza Follett (Sticks ‘n’ Skins author).

We were surprised by the kids who performed…they were absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable about the music. You can see some of them in the video. The high point of the evening was the surprise guest presenter for Paul Shaffer, his old boss, David Letterman. He did a standup comedy routine, that I must say, I miss. He still has it. Just a great fun night of music!

Now that my chips are cooked, I'm ready to sit down and enjoy these potatoes and watch #TheGrammys with host #JamesCorden. I might have to make more. The end result...now I'm hungry! After pic of Lara's hair ordeal!
What a night of music at the Iridium for Holly Goldrich's For The Love of 48th St. Here I am with 2 friends who performed tonight...Christine Ohlman and Jimmy Kunes. My dinner tonight...tons of veggies with some bean thread noodles. It will be yummy! It took approximately 6 hours to get my daughter Lara's hair cut, colored, washed and styled. She started at 11:00am. I managed to get my hair cut and shampooed at 4 pm and I was still finished before her! We were starving by the time we left.
So hungry...made lentil soup. My first time. I hope it taste good. The other side of Lara's head.... Joey Molland's Badfinger performing at BB KINGS.
