Little Kids Rock Benefit

The Little Kids Rock Benefit event took place the other night at The Hammerstein Ballroom. It was to raise money for children to continue their education in music in schools.

The kids got to perform with Steve Miller, Graham Nash, Darlene Love and Paul Shaffer. The music director was Will Lee. Hosted by Maureen Van Zandt. I was invited by my friend, Gary Lippman and his wife Vera. At our table were my friends Willie Nile and Simon Kirke (Bad Company, Free). There were lots of other friendly faces in the room too, like my friends Billy Amendola (Associate Editor of Modern Drummer ) and Jules Danza Follett (Sticks ‘n’ Skins author).

We were surprised by the kids who performed…they were absolutely fantastic and very knowledgeable about the music. You can see some of them in the video. The high point of the evening was the surprise guest presenter for Paul Shaffer, his old boss, David Letterman. He did a standup comedy routine, that I must say, I miss. He still has it. Just a great fun night of music!

The chef, Christopher, made the dinner last night with the help from his sous chef, his girlfriend and my daughter, Lara. Delicious! Maria (Nick’s mom and soon to be mom-in-law to Melanie), Lara, Melanie and me at Thanksgiving Dinner tonight. Nick cooked an amazing dinner. Ate too much! I was so happy to run into Leslie Ann Jones. She is one of my favorite people in the recording industry. She is a multi-Grammy winning engineer and also is Director of Music and Scoring at Skywalker Sound.
I’ve never found these in my grocery stores in NY. These were on the shelf in a store in Liverpool. Hmmm Visiting my favorite pet, Gemini. She had a lot to tell me today! So good to run into guitarist June Millington (from the group Fanny.)
Always knew my daughter had flair...she loves her cosplay to this day! Celebrating my birthday week with going to a T-Rex Tribute show. Here I am with organizer Joe Hurley and Rolan Bolan, Marc’s son, last night. Good to see them both. At the AES Convention, I always want to see my favorite friends and here is my long time friend, Piers Plaskitt (CEO of Solid State Logic), His daughter Paige Plaskitt and also Billy Amendola (Modern Drummer magazine.)
